Melania Trump's speech plagiarizes portion of Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech

When potential first lady Melania Trump stepped to the microphone at the Republican National Convention on Monday night, some of her words may have seemed familiar.

And as it happened, they were: a portion of her speech was identical – and another portion nearly identical – to the address given by first lady Michelle Obama at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo.

A handful of the first lady's words are changed, and Mrs. Trump's speech deviated from Mrs. Obama's track briefly, but came back to the words of her potential predecessor in short order.
