Search is on for killer who shot two men, left bodies inside SUV

ATLANTA — Police are investigating after two men were found dead near a gas station on Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta.

Atlanta police said a passerby discovered the men who had been shot to death in an SUV near a Valero gas station close to where Cheshire Bridge intersects Lenox Road.

Investigators believe someone drove up and opened fire on the men. Officers now hope security cameras in the area could give them some new leads.

Doreen Parks told Channel 2’s Audrey Washington that she has lived near Cheshire Bridge Road for 24 years, and in all that time, she’s never heard of a crime so shocking and so close to home.

“I just heard about it just now and I’m devastated,” Parks said. “I just saw the police on the corner, moving traffic.”

Around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, police got the call that the men had found shot to death inside a Kia SUV.

Park said she saw the flashing blue lights, the evidence markers and the crime scene tape as police shut down the road near Interstate 85.

They searched for the shooter but came up with nothing.

“We're trying to find witnesses and surveillance cameras and we’re trying to retrace where our victims might have been before the shooting. We don’t have any idea what led to the shooting or who our perpetrators are,” said Lt. Andrea Webster, with the Atlanta Police Department.

Tuesday afternoon, investigators returned to the scene to look for surveillance video in the area.

Police are also checking with area businesses to see if the men were anywhere nearby before the shooting.
