5 bodies found in Georgia house fire were shot, GBI says

Deadly house in south Georgia

COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says all five victims found dead in a south Georgia house fire were murdered prior to the blaze.

Investigators say Jonathon Edwards, 21, Alicia Norman, 20, Reid Williams, 21, Jones Pidcock, 21, and Jordan Croft, 22, were all shot before the fire broke out.

In a news release, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says they’ve arrested a suspect — 25-year-old Jeffrey Alan Peacock — on murder and arson charges in all five deaths after the Sunday morning fire in Colquitt County.

Authorities say shortly after the fire that Peacock had been the only one from the house to escape the blaze. The GBI says Peacock knew the victims, but the motive for the killings is unknown.

It isn’t immediately known Friday morning whether Peacock had a lawyer who could be reached for comment.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and processing evidence.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office at 229- 616-7460 or the GBI office in Thomasville at 229-225-4090.
