ATLANTA — A local driver said she's furious after a parking ticket she paid showed up on her credit report.
PARKatlanta issued Autumn Mosely the ticket in midtown Atlanta on Charles Allen Drive near Piedmont Park.
Mosely showed Channel 2's Matt Belanger the receipt she was emailed after she paid the ticket online.
Mosely said she parked on the street when she visited Piedmont Park last June and returned to her car to find a parking ticket.
She decided to fight the ticket and got a court date two months later. But when the date got closer, she realized she couldn't make it and went online and paid the ticket.
"I don't what it to happen to anyone else," Mosely told Belanger.
Mosely showed Belanger her receipt for the payment. She says she thought everything was fine.
But recently, she noticed a drop in her credit score.
When she checked, she saw the ticket was turned over to a collection agency two months after her payment.
"Where did my money go?" Mosely said. "It's just like I made the payment and it went off into thin air. Obviously it wasn't received through the online service and you'd think it would go right over to the correct department."
Belanger contacted PARKatlanta about the situation. A representative told him they are investigating what happened but said it could be because Mosely didn't pay quickly enough and the ticket went up in price.
"There's nothing to investigate the payment has been paid," Mosely told Belanger.
Mosely said she paid the full amount that showed online.
She believes the ticket would not go up in price while she's waiting for her day in court. She told Belanger she doesn't want other drivers to go through the same thing.
"Everyone knows how hard it is to get something off of your credit," Mosely said.
Mosely told Belanger the credit reporting agency said it could take months until the item is removed from her credit report.
This comes as city leaders are considering what to do when PARKatlanta's contract expires later this year.
