The woman, identified as Gloria Starr-Armour, was sitting inside a car around 5 p.m. at Summerdale Apartments on Old Hapeville Road when police say the people inside two cars at the entrance to the complex started shooting at each other.

Starr-Armour was taken to the hospital, where she died.
"You have to sit at the gate and wait and evidently that's what she was doing, and she got killed for nothing," witness Lonnie Norman said.

Norman says he had just pulled into the complex when he heard gunshots.
"I heard pat, pat, pat," he said. "People were running out of the apartment with towels."
He says good Samaritans grabbed towels and jumped into action when they realized Starr-Armour had been hit.
Police say the shooters involved both crashed their cars a few feet away from the scene and took off. Two men were detained but they were questioned and released.
Police say they do not have a motive for the shootout.
