ATLANTA — One man was found dead by the Atlanta Fire Department in a pool behind a house that was on fire Saturday afternoon.
Atlanta firefighters were called to the home around 6:20 p.m. When they arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames.
"It is possible that the winds contributed to the spread of the fire," Sgt. Cortez Stafford said.
Firefighters didn't find any bodies inside the home, but found a deceased man in the home's backyard pool.
The Atlanta Fire Department Dive Team responded to pull the man out of the pool.
Homicide and arson detectives were on the scene collecting evidence.
Neighbors say an emergency room doctor lives at this house on the 900 block of Oriole Drive in southwest Atlanta.
Witness Richard Hightower believes he saw that doctor running from his home.
"He probably had no clothes on. He was running at top speed," Hightower said.
