ATLANTA — A man who was shot while pumping gas said he was the victim of mistaken identity.
The shooting happened last month at a Chevron station on Flat Shoals Road in southeast Atlanta.
Brian Augustus said he was trying to get some gas and go home when he heard a voice, turned around and was staring down the barrel of a gun.
"A guy jumped out of the back of the car and screamed out, 'You know what it is." And I didn't know what it was, so I just ran. I saw the gun and just ran," he said.

He was shot twice as he ran away. He said he did not recognize the shooter.
"The doctor said I was lucky because it was inches away from my spine," Augustus said.
Investigators are searching for two people in connection with the shooting: the driver of a white Dodge Charger with black rims and the shooter, who was a passenger in the car.
"I just hope they catch him so he don't do it to someone else. I mean, no one deserves that," Augustus said.
Augustus has set up a GoFundMe page if you would like to help him with his medical bills.
If you know anything about the shooting, call Atlanta police.
