Police investigate death of man found in pool

ATLANTA — Arson investigators and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene of a house fire where a man was found dead at the bottom of a pool.

Investigators went through every inch of a burned-down home on Oriole Drive in southwest Atlanta.

Officials say the fire started around 6:30 p.m.  Saturday.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the fire, and how the man ended up dead on the bottom of a swimming pool. A dive team recovered the body late Saturday.

"It's a shock, but everyone...thinks something is going on. That's more than just a house fire," one neighbor said.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes reports an emergency doctor owns the home, but officials have not said he's the one they found in the pool.

Witnesses say when the house was engulfed in flames, they saw the doctor running from the home with no clothes on.

Several different neighbors told Fernandes, the doctor was a private man, and they would only see him in the neighborhood when he would take walks.
