ATLANTA — A SWAT situation involving a man believed to have a gun with several children came to an end early Tuesday morning after a three-hour standoff.
Michael Hubbard is now in custody and charged with domestic violence and cruelty to children.
The standoff started with a report of a man inside an apartment complex on Hollywood Road with a gun.
According to police, units responded to a woman screaming call at one of the apartments. Officers were advised a man had taken a gun from a vehicle and entered the apartment. Officers said they could see a woman and children inside the apartment.
A police commander told Channel 2's Audrey Washington the situation was very active.
"Other witnesses advised that a male subject was in the parking lot with a gun and then went into the apartment," Capt. Cliff Johnson said.
What led to Hubbard barricading himself is still unknown. Hostage negotiators were able to talk him out of the apartment, Johnson said.
