Hurricane Irma evacuees enjoy free game at SunTrust Park

ATLANTA — Thousands of families have converged in Atlanta to escape Hurricane Irma.

To take their minds off the storm, the Atlanta Braves offered free tickets to its games this weekend to people displaced by the storm.

Alan Poluyanskis and his family left their home near Tampa, Florida early Saturday morning. He spoke to Channel 2's Chris Jose at SunTrust Park and said he's thankful for a distraction.

"We're just all safe. That's all that matters," he said.

The Braves took on the Miami Marlins Saturday night.
