CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Part of Cherokee County Highway was closed early Wednesday morning as police investigated a deadly shooting.
The shooting happened along Highway 92 and Indian Valley Drive in Woodstock at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police have since reopened the roads in that area.
Woodstock police said the shooting happened inside a car in the middle of the road.
Police identified the victim as Audra Eaker, 43.
Police told Channel 2’s Audrey Washington they have the suspected shooter, Darrel Eaker, in custody.

“It does appear as though the victim and the suspect were acquaintances and this was not a random act,” Brittany Duncan with Woodstock Police said.
Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.
Eaker remains in jail while police look into the relationship between him and the victim.
No one else was injured in the shooting.
