MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta police are offering classes for Cobb County teachers in the nightmarish event of a shooter opening fire inside of a school.
Kindergarten teacher Sarah Ernie said the times have changed and so have the realities of being a teacher.

"I’d never thought going into the teaching career that I’d ever have to do a training like this,” Ernie said.
They told teachers there are tools inside the classroom they can use to delay a shooter's action or help them escape through a window.
"Those really nice snowman bricks that prop open your door. You know the kids paint them into a snowman? They prop open the door. What can you do with that? Throw it at somebody. You could do a whole lot with a brick right?" said the training officer.
Police also said it's important to have an exit plan.
