A Georgia State University baseball player is in intensive care with serious head injuries.
Dillon Swaggerty, 21, says he was held down and beaten at a Buckhead bar over the weekend.
Swaggerty's mother, Tammy Swaggerty, told Channel 2's Wendy Corona a group of men surrounded him and the girl he was dancing with at Kramer's on Saturday night. The two were shoved to the ground.
"The guys on the side grabbed his arms," his mother said. "The one that did the shoving just punched him and they held him down.”
Just the night before, Swaggerty was pitching for the Georgia State baseball team.
“The doctor has told me that the blows he received were very forceful,” his mother said.
Swaggerty underwent a CT scan on Monday night and will remain in intensive care.
"He's got a chipped tooth, he's got a cut in his ear, the side of his face is very bruised," Tammy Swaggerty said.
An Uber driver noticed a disorientated Swaggerty on Roswell Road after the beating and offered to give him a ride home for free.
A team trainer attended to Swaggerty on Monday and urged him to get treatment.
"In my opinion he was an angel from God. I think because there was a good Samaritan out there who saw that young man was in trouble and bleeding," Tammy Swaggerty said. "I don't know who the man is but I'd like to thank him if I ever find out."
The reward has been set at $1,000 and more is "coming in by the minute."
The family has also set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for medical expenses.
