CHAMBLEE, Ga. — Firefighters were are working to find out what caused a fire to rip through a DeKalb County business Thursday.
Channel 2's Robert Ray was at the scene Thursday morning as dozens of firefighters battled the 2-alarm fire at Mexico Body Shop and Auto Repair on New Peachtree Road in Chamblee.
No one was inside the building when the flames broke out.
Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles. About 50 firefighters were working at one point.
“We attempted an interior attack that was unsuccessful,” said DeKalb County Deputy Fire Chief Norman Augustin.
The fire was too much for a ground assault so firefighters took to the air and reorganized.
They used a 100-foot ladder to spray water and beat down the flames.

Some firefighters suffered minor exhaustion and one was taken to the hospital with a minor shoulder injury.
Jesus Rodriguez watched as the flames consumed the business where he works.
“I don't know. The first place is brand new in the last two weeks, and I don't know. Maybe the fire is coming from there,” Rodriguez.
Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. The amount of damage has not been estimated.
