DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Volunteers combed through wooded areas in Stone Mountain on Thursday to look for an elderly man who disappeared Sunday evening.
Maurice Taitt was visiting the states from Trinidad for a family reunion in Orlando. Taitt has dementia and diabetes.
When he came back with his loved ones Saturday, he began to talk about Trinidad and was convinced he was back there.
"My last interaction with him was trying to convince him that he was at my home, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, which was the United States, not Trinidad," Taitt's son Declan said.

According to his son, he walked out of a house full of people on Wynbrooke Parkway the next day. The family upstairs thought Taitt was downstairs. The family downstairs thought the opposite. By Sunday evening, full-blown search efforts were in effect.
DeKalb County police has been looking for Taitt but haven't had much luck.
"Dad we miss you. We love you, and we want you back right now," Declan said. "We know someone out there knows something, has seen something , has interacted with him because he doesn't know the area so he couldn't move around on his own…other than walk."
Volunteers picked up where police left off on Thursday at the Neighborhood Community Center off of Rockbridge Road. They walked through wooded areas and putting up signs with his information.
