High school coach arrested, charged with having child pornography

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A girls’ varsity volunteer coach at a Brookhaven private school is facing child porn charges.

Dutton was jailed on March 15 and bonded out two days later. %

"That's awful. That's disgusting," said Brookhaven resident Patrick Sanders.

Dutton was a community coach at Marist school, a private Catholic school in Brookhaven, before his arrest.

The president sent Channel 2’s Rikki Klaus a statement that reads, in part: "We were saddened to learn of the arrest of Mr. Daniel Dutton. Mr. Dutton has never been a member of our faculty but has been a part time community assistant coach for the varsity girls' basketball team for the past several years."

"It's unfortunate, obviously. I'm sure it's not typical of a coach at Marist," said resident Patrick Gresham. "Hopefully he gets some help. It's kind of tough. Tough situation, particularly being around kids. I hope he gets help."

The school has not been a part of the investigation. No Marist students were involved.

Klaus spoke with Dutton over the phone Monday night. He said he's not at liberty to comment about the allegations against him.

The investigation continues, as investigators continue to search his devices.
