DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police said a man has been charged with murder after a woman was shot and killed on Interstate 20 Thursday afternoon in DeKalb County.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition after the shooting near Wesley Chapel Road, according to DeKalb County police spokesperson Shiera Campbell. Just after 6 p.m., the 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead.
Channel 2's Carl Willis learned the woman was in the front passenger seat of a silver Jeep that her boyfriend was driving. According to police, a friend in the backseat fired the deadly shot.
The friend has been charged with murder.

NewsChopper 2 was over the scene for several hours and showed the Jeep on the side of the interstate surrounded by police tape.
Police said the suspect did not try to run from the scene.
Several lanes were closed as police investigated. The lanes have since reopened.
