Family desperate for answers after man killed 25 years ago at popular restaurant

ATLANTA — A man told Channel 2 Action News his older brother had a big impact on many people before robbers murdered him 25 years ago.

There is not a day that goes by that Peter Tucker doesn’t think about his older brother.

“I'll never know who he would have been today,” Tucker said.

When Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez talked to him via Skype, his heartbreak was palpable.

It’s a pain Tucker and his family have felt for nearly 25 years.

“This ended up being a horrific murder, there was no justice in it -- no purpose,” Tucker said.

TRENDING STORIES:

His brother, Harry Tucker, was shot Nov. 11, 1992, while working at this popular European Cafe along North Highland Avenue.

Since then, the restaurant, which still exists, moved just a couple of blocks up the street.

But the grief and heartache remain at the old location, where the shooting unfolded.

“They had closed the restaurant and it was pretty late at night, and the three guys had come in and robbed them,” Tucker said. “Then as they were leaving -- one of them said to the other -- let's shoot him.”

Police say there was no reason for the suspects to shoot the 40-year-old victim in the neck because they already had the money from the register and were hal way out the door.

“Obviously, they didn't have a heart,” Tucker said.

The victim survived the shooting, but died a week later.

And for 25 years since his death – all his family has wanted is closure.

“It was a senseless killing,” Tucker said.
