COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are investigating after a Georgia father allegedly shot and killed a boy his daughter sneaked into their house.
Investigators said the man’s 14-year-old daughter sneaked the 17-year-old boy into their Columbia County home early Saturday morning.
According to police, the father got his gun after he heard noises downstairs. He followed his barking dog to a guest bedroom.
When the father opened the bedroom door, Jordan Middleton ran from the closet, and the father fired a shot.

When police arrived, they said the teen was dead.
A high school basketball coach says Middleton was a well-liked student.
“It’s a terrible tragedy for both families. My heart goes out to both of them,” said Evans High School Athletic Director Kevin Kenny. “He was just a great kid. (He was) very likeable and always had a smile on his face.”
Police have not filed charges against the father.
