GBI investigates officer shot in south Georgia

CLAY COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says they have responded to an officer shot in south Georgia. 
The GBI said the incident happened in Clay County.

Investigators said they received a 911 call for a domestic disturbance around 10 a.m.

The Clay County deputy responded to the call. After he arrived, the GBI says there was an exchange of gunfire, hitting the officer.

The agency says the officer has been taken to a nearby hospital.

Investigators said the suspect was taken into custody.

This comes just one day after a police detective was laid to rest after a shooting in Polk County last week.

The GBI said this investigation is active and ongoing.
