Girls say creepy clown chased them home

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating reports of clown sightings in Fort Oglethorpe in North Georgia.

Residents have called police after seeing suspicious people dressed as clowns lurking in the area.

Shareda Maston, 17, and her 11-year-old cousin said a clown chased them from a gas station to their Fernwood Drive apartment on Monday.

The girls took a video of the clown from their window and posted it on Snapchat.

“I screamed and my aunt was like, ‘What are y’all screaming for downstairs?’ So she came down and saw it with her own two eyes,” Maston said.

They said the clown was waving something that looked like a knife.

“It was scary. I was fixing to cry because I’m scared of clowns,” Maston said.

Police said they have had more than one report of a clown in the neighborhood.

They think it’s probably a prank, but they have to take it seriously, especially after seeing the video.

Maston’s aunt said it doesn’t matter if it was a kid or an adult, the prank was not funny and it could be dangerous for everyone.

“Oh, it’s very dangerous. It’s very dangerous because I’ve told police officers if it happens again, they’re going to come pick me up instead of that person because they’re going to be dead,” Angela Martin said.

Fort Oglethorpe police posted on their Facebook page the Georgia law that makes it illegal for people to wear masks to scare people when it’s not a holiday like Halloween.
