BUFORD, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned that Gwinnett police officers were involved in a shooting Saturday night.
The officer-involved shooting happened in Buford at 1457 Castleberry Drive in unincorporated Gwinnett County.
Authorities said one person was injured in the shooting and was taken to the hospital. No officers were injured.
Channel 2's Nicole Carr learned the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation. Two officers entered the home and opened fire on a man with a knife, police said.
"Once inside they were confronted by a young man armed with a knife. He confronted them a threatening manner,” said Gwinnett Sgt. Rich Long.
Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are now investigating the shooting.
Neighbors said they were startled by the gunshots.
"All I heard was there was gunshots and then there was bloody body coming out,” said neighbor Tae-Min Lee.
