The Gwinnett County Police Department is searching for a 27-year-old Snellville man who escaped the hospital Sunday night after being arrested on a drug charge.
Kevin Dawkins had been arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession earlier in the night in a Snellville neighborhood.
During the arrest, police told Channel 2’s Nicole Carr, officers stunned him with a Taser and he was in and out of consciousness. An ambulance took him to Eastside Medical Center, where they said he ran out shortly after arrival.
“I never see stuff like that in my neighborhood so it had me kind of had me crossed,” witness Amire Burns said.
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Burns described seeing nearly a dozen police cars and K-9 units in his Snellville neighborhood late Sunday night.

Carr met him while she and her photographer were looking for people who might know Dawkins, and they told Burns what that search was about.
“How do you escape a hospital without, like, getting caught?" Burns asked.
Channel 2 Action News wasn't able to reach Dawkins' family Monday, but police say he's not a danger to the public.
They want the public to be on the lookout for a slim man in blue pants and a blue shirt. If he's shirtless, police say you'll see a tattoo on his chest that say "Wall Mart."
Dawkins will face several charges, including cocaine possession, obstruction and escape.
