Body found floating on Lake Lanier

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating the discovery of a body floating in Lake Lanier just south of Don Carter State Park.

Deputies say they body has likely been in the water for more than a day.

Authorities said Saturday evening the man had been identified as Thomas Wayne Chapman, 36, of Gainesville.

His body was taken to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office to determine Chapman's cause of death.
