HALL COUNTY, Ga. — The Department of Natural Resources says a 17-year-old boy has died after drowning in Lake Lanier.
Emergency crews were called out to Balus Creek Park along Lake Lanier at around 4 p.m. Friday for a report that the teen went under the water while swimming and never resurfaced.
DNR said they located the body of Cristofer Acosta-farias, 17, of Gainesville, just before 5 p.m. using side scan sonar and recovered him from the water.
There is no word on what may have caused the teen to go under.
