Pot-infused popcorn seized in drug raid

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Drug investigators in Hall County raided a suburban home and seized tens of thousands of dollars in illegal drugs, including packaged popcorn and brownies containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

"We also seized 230 vials of THC-infused oil, that you would smoke in one of those electronic vape cigarettes, and six pounds of marijuana," Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Don Scalia told

Investigators arrested Kyle Scott Foster, 30. They say Foster was selling the drugs out of the house and may have purchased the drugs in another state where they are legal and had the merchandise shipped back to Georgia for resale.

"We think what's he's doing is traveling to, or had contact in California or Nevada, where these items are sold, apparently over the counter, and then shipping them back to his residence in Georgia," Scalia said.

Authorities believe buying drugs legally in other states and selling them illegally in Georgia is a growing trend -- and highly profitable.

"With the legalization of marijuana and THC products in some states, that has opened up a new resource for our local distributors," Hall County Deputy Stephen Wilbanks told Regan.

Investigators said they seized other drugs, thousands in cash and a sawed-off shotgun from the house in Flowery Branch.
