The Covenant House Georgia serves and works with young people ages 16-23 years old, to develop a sense of sustainability and independence to overcome homelessness and escape trafficking.

The volunteers did some mulching, weeding of plants, and planning an overhaul of one the clothing closets in the non-profit’s gym.

One volunteer, Malorie Ragsdale, makes it a tradition to do community service on her birthday.

“I think it’s important for me to give back, I think if you’re given another year why not use it to benefit other people,” said Ragsdale.

Dr. Alie Redd, Covenant House executive director, said they operate on a lean budget so having the kind of help they had from the volunteers meant a lot.

“Volunteers at Covenant House Georgia has a huge impact on our operation, it also has a huge impact on insuring the quality of life for our young people, not only making sure they have a beautiful place to live but they also help us develop programming like life skills,” said Dr. Redd.

And the volunteers got to see the fruits of their labor.

“It’s really important that our volunteers see where their money is going, see where their time is going and unite for service gives them an opportunity to do that with multiple partners at one time,” said Dr. Redd.
