Based on hotel data from expedia.com, Las Vegas was the number one destination among American tourists last year.

The data shows that while Americans take advantage of Thanksgiving breaks, they tend to stay in the U.S. Just behind Las Vegas is another big city with bright lights, New York.
Travelers also checked into Orlando, San Francisco, Anaheim, Honolulu and Chicago.
The ones who do travel out of the country, just go further south to Mexico and the Caribbean. Cancun, Punta Cana and Playa de Carmen all made the list.
