HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A family remembers a mother shot and killed in a local hotel as a murder suspect is waiting to be brought back to Georgia.
Law enforcement officers arrested the suspect, Tory Jones, in Huntsville, Alabama, Friday night.
Kimba Gates, 19, spoke with Channel 2's Matt Johnson about how she and her sister will go on after the slaying of their mother, Elimisha Gates.
"Every time I called her she'd come and get me. Whatever the circumstances was around, she was by my side. She was a great mother to me and my little sister," Gates said.
Family and friends looked to each other for support at a candlelight vigil and balloon release for the 40-year-old mother of two.%

Gates was found Tuesday morning in a Henry County hotel near Stockbridge.
The victim's sister told Channel 2 Action News Jones is an ex-boyfriend who wasn't handling the breakup well.
Jones has been considered armed and dangerous since the day of the murder.
The Gates family is thankful so many people on social media shared his picture until he was caught.
Gates' funeral is being planned for Wednesday, which would have been her 41st birthday.
