Authorities said shortly after the fire that Peacock had been the only one from the house to escape the blaze. The GBI says Peacock knew the victims, but the motive for the killings is unknown.
WALB-TV reports the suspect, Jeffrey Peacock, was indicted on five counts of malice murder, five counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, arson in first degree and three counts aggravated cruelty to animals.
Peacock's arraignment will take place on April 3, according to WALB-TV.
One investigator called the case one of the worst mass killings in south Georgia in recent history, WALB-TV said.
