FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Fulton County will become the first county in Georgia to file a lawsuit against companies that make and distribute opioids.
Officials said the drugs are responsible for the addiction and death of hundreds in the county.

“Use of these drugs has resulted in the consumption of millions of dollars in public resources,” Fulton County said in a news release.

“Fulton County has been taking a number of steps in order to combat the problem and unfortunately yes, we are going to file a lawsuit in regards to this, as well,” said Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann.
Just last week, Fulton County commissioners authorized an additional $50,000 so first responders can have more Narcan, the medication that can reverse an drug overdose.
