ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Nearly 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamine is off the streets after a large drug bust at an Alpharetta apartment. Police say the man arrested was a previously deported criminal immigrant.
None of the residents at The Lex apartment complex Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes spoke with knew police and federal agents found a large stash of drugs there Friday.
Police say the 95 pounds of crystal meth they seized is worth $4 million.
Federal authorities also found containers of liquid needed to make crystal meth.
Moises Isidro-Jaimes, 34, was arrested during the drug bust. He was already wanted by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, as a previously deported criminal alien.
A resident, who did not want to be identified, said he's never seen the suspect, and can't believe suspect was running such a large operation near his home.
"Most of the people here are hard working people, good kids, great schools, it would be the last place you'd expect it," the resident said.
Police wouldn't say who's name was on the lease of the Alpharetta apartment because a federal investigation is still open.
Two months ago, Alpharetta police and federal investigators seized 10 pounds of meth, other drugs and guns from an apartment 5 miles away from where Friday's bust was made.
