Reality star’s surveillance cameras capture serious wreck outside home

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — An Atlanta reality TV star says she is grateful that she and her 1-year-old daughter are unhurt after a frightening crash outside her home.

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore posted dramatic surveillance video of an SUV smashing into her mailbox, before flipping over onto its side.

Neighbors told Channel 2’s Michael Seiden that they're shocked the wreck even happened because this road is full of speed bumps.

“This is unbelievable. It looks like straight out of a movie,” neighbor Coimbatore Madhusudan said after seeing the video of the crash.

He told Seiden he was stunned no one was killed.

“It looks horrifying,” Madhusudan said.

The real-life drama played out last week on Burdette Road right in front of Moore's Sandy Springs mansion.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality TV star says she was at the park with her 1-year-old daughter Brooklyn when her home security cameras captured the moment an SUV slammed into her concrete mailbox and then flipped onto its side trapping the driver inside.

Still images from the scene show how first responders were forced to cut off the roof of the overturned vehicle in order to free the driver from the wreckage.

After the crash, Moore took to social media, where she posted an emotional message to her nearly 2 million fans on Instagram, writing in part:

"Just to think yesterday I took her out in her new stroller along my street. Thank you, God, for your protection."

The driver suffered only minor injuries and although police haven’t released the exact cause of the crash, many people don’t believe that speed is to blame.

“There are so many speed bumps along the way, so it’s hard to drive fast on the street and not much traffic,” Madhusudan said.

Seiden contacted Sandy Springs police and a spokesman told him the driver was cited for failure to maintain lane.

Investigators said they are still finalizing the incident report.
