Stolen puppy found, returned to local non-profit

MILTON, Ga. — A local non-profit will soon be reunited with its puppy that was stolen earlier this week.

The nonprofit focused on helping those with disabilities posted on their Bring Dorie Home Facebook page that Dorie was taken from the Canine Assistants Farm on Sept. 2 in Milton.

On Wednesday, Grace Murphy with Canine Assistants told Channel 2 Action News that someone gave Dorie to two people in a Publix parking lot. The 3-month-old puppy had a note on that said "Please return this dog to Canine Assistance" and listed the address of the farm.

Canine Assistants helps place dogs with people with disabilities at no cost, which is a huge deal because the average service dog costs about $25,000.

Murphy said they are elated to have Dorie back and that she will soon continue her training.
