HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A local mother reached out to Channel 2 Action News after learning a softball coach arrested on child pornography charges was caught coaching again.
More than two years ago, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Anthony Bartlett after investigators discovered disturbing child pornography pictures on his laptop.
"I was mortified, and angry, and severely upset because he has been out on bail for over two years and no one has done anything about it," said Lauren McAuliffe, a witness in the case and a concerned parent.
"It is really frustrating how long it is taking," McAuliffe said.
The Spalding County prosecutor on the case said the delays were caused by the need for further investigation and also because the defense attorney asked for more time.
But what has McAuliffe even more upset is when she discovered Bartlett started coaching another Henry County girls softball team following the arrest.
"So all this time they are waiting for the trial, he can do whatever he wants because like every other person in America, you are innocent until proven guilty and there were no conditions put on his bail that he couldn't be around children," McAuliffe said.
After the team discovered the charges in October, the Henry County Parks and Recreation director said Bartlett left the team. Director Tim Coley said Bartlett may be using a different last name on social media.
Coley said they will not issue him a badge to coach in the county, but they cannot prevent him from being around the park, since there are no conditions on his bond release that prohibit that, and he has not been convicted.
Prosecutors said Bartlett will stand trial for four charges of child exploitation and possession of child pornography in June.
So far Channel 2 Action News has not been able to reach Bartlett for comment.
