ATLANTA — After a record-breaking stretch, Georgia’s dry land will finally get relief in the form of heavy rain.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said as early as 10 p.m. Monday, some parts of Georgia will see refreshing rain. The line will move through metro Atlanta overnight and early morning Tuesday and will move out by 8 a.m.

But that is just the first wave.
The next wave of rain comes Wednesday. That line could produce some storms and another inch or two of rain.
Another positive note is that the wettest areas will be over the fire zones which have been burning for weeks and have spread smoke across parts of metro Atlanta and middle Georgia.
Wind gusts will also be possible over higher elevations of Georgia where there is a High Wind Warning that went into effect Monday afternoon. Gusts of 40 – 55 mph are possible as the front moves through.
