Police: 1 dead in triple shooting in Walmart parking lot

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Detectives are working to learn what led to a shooting outside a Walmart in south Fulton County.

One person died and two others were injured after the shooting late Sunday night.

Fulton County police blocked off the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter on Research Center Drive overnight.

Detectives found bullet casings and evidence in the parking lot and said a witness heard several gunshots and flagged down an officer.

When police arrived, they found two young men with gunshot wounds.

Police then located a third person, also suffering from gunshot wounds, not far from the scene.

All three were rushed to the hospital, where one later died from his injuries, police said.

Several people who shop at the Walmart say the violence is just a sign of the times while others are asking for security.

"It's just too much going on. It's just too much going on," shopper Kevin Davis told Channel 2's Tom Jones.

Another shopper told Jones, "It's happening so much, so many different places."

Shopper Marian Smith says she didn't see any security at the supercenter, which concerns her.

"This is my grandma and she lives in this area, so I honestly think they should have secured all Walmart locations because, you know, that's crazy," Smith's granddaughter said.

Another shopper Jones spoke with believes it's not about a lack of security, but that it's too many guns.

Walmart shopper Bernard Mitchell said we now live in a culture that accepts and glorifies violence.

"We're like the wild, wild west now," Mitchell said. "We gonna settle it in the street with a gun."

Mitchell told Jones that he expects more violence until society learns the importance of communication.

"We got to learn to talk, and the weapons ain't gonna solve the problems at all," Mitchell said.

Police told Jones that they have no updates right now and are not releasing the victims' names, the surviving victims' conditions, if they know of a motive or if they have anyone in custody.
