ATLANTA — Atlanta police released surveillance video connected to the shooting death of a father.
Police said someone shot and killed Antonio Clements, 29, at the Chevron gas station on Campbellton Road.
Video from cameras at the store showed several people approaching a light-colored Chevy Tahoe or Suburban minutes before the shooting. It also shows a man with a ponytail and gold chains talking with a woman inside the store.
Kendra Clopton said she was with her boyfriend, Clements, as they pulled into the parking lot. She said people started shooting and a bullet hit Clements, killing him. Another bullet grazed her head.
"I want to know why. I just want to know why,” Clopton told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri after watching the video.
She only spoke with Channel 2 Action News about the moments leading up to the shooting.
"It doesn't make any sense,” Clopton said. She said she's never seen any of the people on the video and doesn't believe Clements was the target.
Clements' father Bruce Phillips said his son had no enemies.
"I know he wasn't involved in nothing. I just want to have these people caught that really killed him,” he said.
Clopton said Clements volunteered with his son's youth football team through the Atlanta Police Athletic League.
Police want anyone who recognizes the people in the video to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
