GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Berkmar High School student is alive today because her brother and his friend performed CPR after she passed out on a school bus.
The student's big brother learned CPR at school that would lead him to save her life.
Amayrani and Ishmael Olvera got on a bus last Thursday on their way home from Berkmar. Along the way, Amayrani passed out and stopped breathing.
So her brother jumped into action.
"So I was freaking out. I was crying, and I started doing CPR," Ishmael said.
Ishmael says he learned CPR in middle school but had no idea that he would ever have to use it to save his sister, especially on their school bus.
"You're her big brother. You're supposed to take care of her," Ishmael said.

Amayrani passed out just as they got to her stop. The bus driver alerted Ishmael and tried to wake her up but couldn't.
Amayrani says it was like she was floating above them watching everything below.
"I could remember myself crying and my brother wiping off my tears," Amayrani said.
Ishmael and his friend, Rebecca Goodridge, started CPR and kept it going until paramedics arrived. They got Amayrani to the hospital, where she made a full recovery.
She's already back at school.
Ishmael says he's not a hero, but his sister thinks differently.
"I honestly love my brother so much. I might not say it often or show it, but, like, I love him a lot," Amayrani said.
