ATLANTA — Power has been restored to most of metro Atlanta – but not everyone.
Georgia Power says 2,500 people are still without power, but that is much less than at the height of the outage early Friday morning.
A tree that fell down on power lines on Northside Drive near Howell Mill Road caused a “domino effect,” Georgia Power says. Spokesperson Craig Bell said the tree caused a transformer to blow near Piedmont Park.
About 13,000 customers lost power near Piedmont Park. %

Substations at Boulevard, Paces Ferry Road and Butler Street were knocked out by the fallen tree at about 6:45 a.m., Bell said.
Georgia Power reported another 3,500 outages in the area of Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road.
In the end, about 20,000 customers were without power at one point.

"I heard a loud noise about 6:45 this morning and noticed all the fans off and tried to turn the lamp on and realized the power was out,” said neighbor Kimberly Head.
Georgia Power says they hope to have power restored to the Northside Dr. - Howell Mill Rd. area by 2 p.m.
