MACON, Ga. — A Georgia TV station is remembering an Atlanta-area news anchor who died hours before her 25th birthday.
WMG-TV in Macon released balloons and doves on Thursday in Taylor Terrell's memory.
She died a week ago at a waterfall in North Carolina. The U.S. Forest Service said Taylor was wading in the stream that flows over Rainbow Falls on the Pissgah Ranger District. She lost her footing and was swept over the falls by the current.
"To say that this loss is devastating for us here at 41NBC and to her family is an understatement. Taylor was scheduled to be off today to celebrate her 25th birthday. Instead, we're remembering her spirit, her optimism, and her work."
Terrell grew up in Rockdale County and graduated from Heritage High School.

Terrell met veteran anchor Monica Pearson, who read to her classroom and helped inspire the young woman's career in news.
"Taylor loved people. She loved uplifting people. She was a caring person," Taylor's mother, Quovardis Terrell, said.
The funeral for Terrell will be held on Saturday in Lithonia.
