ATLANTA — The fastest news helicopter in Georgia just got even better.
Channel 2 Action News launched new technology on NewsChopper 2 Thursday, which allows street-level mapping, satellite imagery and much more.
The new system will allow viewers and the camera operator to view street names and names of nearby businesses as it flies over.
It also allows real-time comparison using satellite images to show what a location looked like in the past versus what it looks like now. This can be used to show things such as damage from a fire or flooding, or to show progress on new construction.

NewsChopper 2 already has the most advanced HD camera on a news helicopter.
On Thursday, NewsChopper 2 was able to use the new technology to show the progress at SunTrust Park in Cobb County, which is just weeks away from hosting Braves Opening Day.
Along with the mapping technology, the new system can also measure distances, track vehicle speeds and direction of travel along with many other new features that will continue to make NewsChopper 2 the most advanced news helicopter in the world.
This new tech we have in NewsChopper 2 is a game changer. Not only can we use it to tell a better story but it makes my job easier.
