ATLANTA — Georgia’s Zac Brown has issued a statement after he was in a Florida hotel room where multiple people were arrested on drug possession charges.

The country singer says in a Facebook post that he “was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

A report from the Palm Beach Police Department showed that Brown, lead singer of the Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band, was present when police arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel on April 8.

Brown was not charged or arrested.

“I attended a private gathering at a Miami-area hotel and had only been there for a short time when police officers arrived and arrested two people in the room who had just showed up a few minutes before,” Brown said in the statement. “I did not know these people and had no idea that there were drugs in their possession. I cooperated fully with the authorities and am not part of any ongoing police investigation.”

Brown went on to say that he regretted "using poor judgment and putting myself in that position."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
