Isakson projected winner over Barksdale

ATLANTA — U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson has won a third term and avoids a grueling nine week runoff, according to the Associated Press.

Isakson, a Republican, faced Democrat Jim Barksdale and Libertarian Allen Buckley on Tuesday. Isakson has led in public polling leading up to election night.

A Channel 2 Action News poll conducted by Landmark/Rosetta Stone found Isakson with a 10 point advantage -- 51.9 percent to Barksdale's 41.3 percent.
