Who has the best nachos in all of Georgia?

Nachos

Jalapenos. guacamole, beans, salsa, sour cream, BBQ; Who could go for a plate of nachos right now?

If you’re anywhere near Atlanta, you might want to try the ones called “the best damn nachos in all of Georgia.”

Thrillist, an online blog covering food and travel, recently named the best nachos across America. One Georgia restaurant made the list. That honor went to the nachos at Manuel’s Tavern on North Highland.

“Platters come out blazing hot, nestled under an avalanche of homemade jalapeno cheese sauce, diced tomatoes, crunchy shredded romaine, green onions, jalapenos, sour cream, and your choice of BBQ pulled pork, chicken, chili, or black beans (hint: you want the pulled pork),” the list’s author notes. “Spring for a side of fresh guac, grab a cold craft beer, and prepare to stuff your ballot box.”

Manuel’s Tavern is named after Manuel Maloof, who opened it in 1956. Maloof wanted to create a neighborhood bar modeled after the taverns he enjoyed while stationed in England during World Word II. It’s the same Manuel Maloof who would go on to serve as CEO of DeKalb County and who was heavily involved in Georgia politics. His family still owns and operates the bar today.

Other menu items include Grandbobby’s Pork Chop, the loaded Dogzilla, a monster hot dog with the works and an old fashioned meatloaf plate.
