RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — Deputies are investigating after a 15-year-old was shot and killed Sunday.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina said it happened in the 100 block of Hunting Avenue, just after 10 a.m.
Deputies were called to the home after reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The coroner’s office identified the victim as 15-year-old Jayen Gladden, of Hopkins, SC.

Richland County deputies said a 14-year-old was handling the gun near Gladden. While trying to clean the gun, it discharged a single bullet, hitting Gladden, authorities said.
The 14-year-old, whose identity was not released, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon by a person under 18.
Officials did not say, where the gun came from.
