Atlanta Gang Leader Gets Life In Prison

ATLANTA — The leader of a violent Atlanta gang was sentenced to life in prison for three shootings, two of which were fatal.

George "Keon" Redding, 21, is widely recognized as the leader of the Mechanicsville-based gang "30 Deep." On Monday, he was convicted of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

In 2007, Redding killed 40-year-old Ronnie Pierce in a dispute over a gun. Redding accused the victim of stealing the gun from him and demanded it from him. He chased the victim for several blocks while shooting at him.

Redding was also convicted of randomly killing another man earlier that year. According to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, after a dispute with a group from the Boulevard area, Redding vowed to kill the next man he saw from the area. His next victim was Victor Hill, 25.

Redding then targeted a witness of Hill's murder. He shot the witness while he played basketball in the Boulevard area, but the man survived to testify against Redding.

Redding was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years by presiding Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shawn LaGrua.
