Body Found On I-285S

ATLANTA,None — A woman was found dead on an Atlanta highway early Wednesday, Fulton County police said.

Police blocked all lanes of Interstate 285 southbound as they investigated the hit-and-run.

The body was found near Cascade Road just before 3:30 a.m., Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester said. She said the woman had been struck several times, but no vehicle or vehicle remains were found at the scene.

Lester said police weren't sure if the woman was walking or if she was dumped there. No identification was found at the scene.

Department of Transportation crews were working with police to divert the traffic.

Channel 2's Mark Arum advised drivers to look for an alternate route. Drivers west of Interstate 285 can take Fulton Industrial Boulevard South to Camp Creek Parkway or Campbellton Road. Drivers east of I-285 can take the downtown connector southbound at Langford Parkway.

All lanes reopened just before 7:30 a.m.
