Brian Monahan joins Severe Weather Team 2

ATLANTA — We'd like to introduce Meteorologist Brian Monahan, the newest member of Severe Weather Team 2. He comes to us from our sister station, KIRO-TV, in Seattle.

Brian joins Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns, Meteorologist Brad Nitz, Meteorologist Karen Minton and Meteorologist Katie Walls.

Please like Brian on Facebook and read these five things he wanted to share about himself:

1. I'm a huge dog lover. I grew up having dogs as a kid and have a 7 year old Labrador retriever, Jackson, and an approximately 4-year-old boxer, Bella. She's a rescue, so no one's quite sure how old she is.

2. I'm doing what I have wanted to do since I was a little kid. I was always fascinated by the weather and my parents have pictures of me (I'm pretty sure... I certainly remember it) "pretending" to do the weather on a living room "green screen."

3. Katie Walls' and my paths have crossed a few different times. We both went to Penn State (me for undergrad and grad, her for grad), but at different times. We also both worked for WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, also at different times.

4. I'm very into health and fitness. I've run one full marathon (in Miami a few years ago) and dozens of half marathons/shorter races.

5. I'm a really good speller, but not a better one than John Cuddy (yes, I remember his name all these years later). I finished second place to him three years in a row in the elementary school spelling bee!

I would love to hear from you. Email me at Brian.Monahan@wsbtv.com. You can also follow me on Twitter, @BMonahanWSB, and make sure you like my Facebook page.

Also, I tweeted a lot as I trekked across the country to Atlanta. Here are some of my tweets:
