Cobb Doctor Arrested In Child Porn Sting

COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — Channel 2 Action News has learned a local doctor has been arrested in a child porn sting that originated hundreds of miles away.

Dr. Andrew Sutton bonded out of jail Tuesday afternoon and his attorney told Channel 2 Action News reporter Ross Cavitt that the charges will never stick.

"I hope people give him the benefit of the doubt in this situation," said Joel Pugh, the doctor's attorney.

Sutton is still practicing medicine at his ear, nose and throat clinic on Lacy Street near Kennestone Hospital. He recently bonded out of jail on two counts of child pornography.

Investigators in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., started the child porn investigation and notified Cobb County police about what they called questionable pictures. Cobb police then arrested Sutton.

"He was not targeted," said Pugh. "Somehow he got caught up in it."

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Channel 2, Sutton transmitted one sexually explicit image that depicts a child between the ages of 10 and 14.

Sutton's attorney told Cavitt that they are still trying to figure out where the picture came from and how it may have gone through Sutton's computer.

Police also seized Sutton's computers.

"We're asking the public to withhold judgment," said Pugh.
